Douglas W. Lehrman
Founder and CEO
Doug founded Pulse with the plan to create a unique and focused growth equity investment firm. To date, that is being accomplished. Doug has over fifteen years’ experience investing and partnering with entrepreneurs in Pulse’s areas of focus. He has learned much from the successes and the failures of the years and brings that knowledge to our investment and strategic focus. Doug’s work and his personal passion for health and wellness merge so that his work is complete pleasure. Doug presently oversees Pulse’s investments across Prospira Pain Care, In Shape Health Clubs and PhysicanOne Urgent Care.
Prior to founding Pulse Equity Partners in 2010, Doug was an original partner at North Castle Partners and was a senior partner for twelve years. In a former life, Doug spent seventeen years as an investment banker focused on leveraged finance. His career took him from Oppenheimer and Drexel Burnham in early days, to SBC Warburg Dillon Read, which later became UBS.
Doug received a BA in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Ira has extensive experience in private equity and venture capital investing, as well as running, acquiring and divesting companies. His primary expertise is in healthcare services and technology and has been investing with Doug for over 16 years. Ira currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Jefferson Health System (former Chairman of the Board), and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Life Trustee of the University of the Arts.
Ira was also instrumental in the creation of the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine at Jefferson University Hospital (named a “Top Hospital in Integrative Medicine” by Philadelphia Magazine). He is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Wistar Institute (former Chair of the Board), The Connelly Foundation, Thomas Jefferson University, Scholars Academies (non-profit charter school operator), and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Ira served on the Boards of Directors of three public companies and currently serves on several private Boards. He received both a BA in Biology and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania.
